Our Firm

Kokis & Associates is located in Astoria, New York, just across the East River from Manhattan, with practice areas concentrating in Federal and New York State tax dispute resolution and tax controversy. Mr. Kokis is a former Internal Revenue Service District Counsel attorney with nearly twenty-five years experience who has also worked in-house for Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Kokis has a unique blend of government, private and public sector experience that differentiates him from most other practitioners, allowing him to address issues and anticipate potential risks in both a theoretical and practical manner. His experience with the Internal Revenue Service, handling both civil and criminal matters, provides a keen insight into the tax administration system, while his experience in private practice, planning and handling disputes for Fortune 500 companies, has provides greater depth in international matters as well as more traditional tax compliance and accounting issues. Our firm concentrates in Tax Law, Corporate and Partnership law, Estate Planning and Department of Labor and Employment matters. We represent a full range of clients, from individuals to corporations, trusts and LLC’s. We handle a broad spectrum of legal matters, including resolving major tax disputes, planning complex tax transactions, and providing counsel to International based companies with U.S. operations. Mr. Kokis is a graduate of the City University of New York – Queens College (B.A., cum laude, 1987), Fordham University School of Law (J.D., 1991) and New York University School of Law (LL.M. in Taxation, 1996).
